New Faces at HelpAround

Recent growth fuels expansion in HelpAround leadership team.

Over the last 18 months the world has been wrestling with an unprecedented global pandemic. The full extent of COVID-19’s repercussions will no doubt be debated for many years to come, but in the area of Specialty Pharmacy, there can be no disagreement that we have seen a seismic (and fundamental) shift. The patient journey, already a complex and fragmented process, became almost impossible overnight with the elimination of in-person clinic visits and implementation of mandatory stay-at-home orders. The phone calls, faxes, and paper signatures that defined many onboarding and adherence protocols suddenly seemed old fashioned as society moved to Zoom calls and digital messaging. Pharma manufacturers were forced to accelerate their technology upgrade cycles and innovation roadmaps as their patients needed solutions immediately. In many ways, COVID-19 opened the door to digital innovation, but at this moment, the specialty pharma industry has picked up the torch and we are finally seeing the patient journey evolve for the digital age.

Incredible Growth

With the increased interest and adoption of mobile connectivity amongst the specialty pharma industry, HelpAround has experienced incredible growth. As the the only digital/mobile-first platform dedicated to providing a toolkit for the speciality patient journey, the number of brands looking to partner with HelpAround has exploded. At this point, we are onboarding multiple pharma manufacturers to the HelpAround platform each month as well as continuing to drive expansion in our network of SP and Hub partners nationwide. With turnkey connectivity across the ecosystem including hubs, copay vendors, REMS programs, and prescribers as well as non-commercial, non-dispensing, and other specialty pharmacies, HelpAround has become the vendor of choice for forward-looking specialty pharma brands. 

Increased Expertise

As a result of this growth, we are excited to announce two new additions to the HelpAround team: Dr. Raeanna Lewarne, Pharm.D as Vice President of Product and Paul Ciccero as Vice President of Growth. As veterans of the pharma services industry, Rae and Paul will be instrumental in the next phase of HelpAround’s success. Over the next few weeks and months, we will be sharing more thought leadership from them both and once the in-person conferences start up again, we look forward to introducing them to you in real life.

Who are the new HelpAround Senior Leaders?

VP of Product – Raeanna (Rae) Lewarne, Pharm.D

Rae is a multidisciplinary pharmaceutical executive with almost two decades of experience in Specialty Pharma across the areas of clinical operations, government affairs, and business development. After receiving her doctorate, Rae spent time at Bristol-Myers Squibb, ProCare RX, and Diplomat Specialty Pharmacy where she led business development for their EnvoyHealth brand. Rae also has years as a Pharm.D clinical instructor at the University of Colorado, a consultant to the Specialty Pharma industry, and most recently an entrepreneur through her company which aimed to redefine the marketing for experienced healthcare professionals seeking freelance work.
As head of product, Rae is focused on defining our strategic product roadmap and improving the level of service provided by HelpAround’s solutions. Rae’s guiding principle is that an excellent product design translates into simple on-boarding and adherence, which aligns with HelpAround’s mission of meeting the patient where they are in their journey, leading to better and more meaningful interactions between them and their therapy.
As a Pharmacist, I was immediately drawn in by HelpAround’s approach of helping patients navigate the silos of healthcare as opposed to simply ‘owning’ the patient’s experience. I continue to be incredibly impressed by the rigor, professionalism, and beauty that the team has applied to creating the HelpAround experience. – Dr. Raeanna Lewarne

VP of Growth – Paul Ciccero

Paul is a sales executive with a track record of selling innovative technology into enterprise organizations. Paul started his career with a decade in the world of medical devices including stints at Ethicon/CardioVations, Cytyc, and Olympus. He then moved into the SaaS space, joining CoverMyMeds as their first National Sales Director, and helped drive the growth that led to their acquisition by McKesson for $1.3B in 2017. Immediately prior to joining the HelpAround team, Paul served as the Vice President of Pharma Sales for ScriptDrop, a SaaS platform that improves medication access opportunities through technology.
Paul’s responsibility at HelpAround is identifying new opportunities within the larger Specialty Pharma ecosystem and driving excellence in execution and growth with our channel partners including ConnectiveRx, IQVIA, and Eversana.
